Two Arrested In Meth Lab Bust

BY SUSAN T. HERRING, Editor, The Guardian-Journal

Metro Narcotics Task Force agents, along with agents from the Louisiana State Police and Minden Police Department, served a search warrant at 1978 Stanpipe Road in Homer on Thursday, August 22. Task Force Coordinator James Spillers said the search led to the seizure of all the components and chemicals necessary for the manufacture of Methamphetamine. As a result, agents arrested John E. Tucker for the production and manufacture of Schedule II CDS and Daniel A. Winters of Homer for criminal conspiracy to manufacture Schedule II CDS. Spillers said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected. Sheriff Kenneth Volentine stated  meth labs are a growing problem for law enforcement all across North Louisiana. The investigation and seizure of these labs is extremely dangerous and exposes officers to toxic chemicals and fire or explosions in many cases. OSHA regulations mandate only certified personnel make entry into these labs and that a qualified hazardous material handler dispose of the chemicals seized. Environmental Management out of Jackson, Mississippi was sent to dispose of the chemical seized at Tucker’s residence. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration pays for cleanup at these sites. Volentine asks the public to assist Law Enforcement by calling the Sheriff’s Department or your local police department if you suspect any activity related to illegal narcotics, or if you have any questions. You may make these calls anonymously if you wish. You can contact the Claiborne Parish Sheriff’s Office at 927-2011, the Homer Police Department at 927-4000, the Haynesville Police Department at 624-1355, or the Metro Narcotics Task Force at 927-3845. Any assistance from the public is appreciated and in some case rewards are available after arrests are made.
