Trailblazer Announces “Paper For Trees” Recycling Program
BY SUSAN T. HERRING, Editor, The Guardian-Journal
Trailblazer
Rural Development Institute is announcing their annual “Paper for Trees”
Recycling Program. For a limited time during the month of August, a $5 gift
certificate will be exchanged for three grocery bags of newspaper (about 30
pounds for recycling). Fifty certificates are available for distribution in
each parish and are limited to one per family. The gift certificates will be
honored toward the purchase of tree seedlings at the Trailblazer Tree
Initiative during February of 2003. The “Paper for Trees” program is designed
to give citizens in north central Louisiana a practical means to reduce
landfill consumption by recycling their newspapers. It is also an opportunity
for Trailblazer to thank those volunteers who have consistently participated in
the recycling program. Parishes participating in the program are Bienville,
Claiborne, Jackson, Lincoln, Union, Webster, and Winn.
