Junction City School Board Approves Teacher Pay Raises

Board Proceeds With Plans To Build New Track This Summer
|

School Superintendent Alvin Kelly reported at the April 10 meeting of the Junction City School Board that a $1,000 teacher pay raise will go into effect in the 2001-2002 school year and a $2,000 raise the following year according to the mandate passed by the State Legislature.

Junction City (LA) Council Awards Bid On New Sewer Treatment Plant

Aldermen Arnold Jones, Ronnie Daniels, and Mike Griffith voted at the regular meeting of the Junction City, Louisiana town council on April 12 to award the bid for construction of the new sewer treatment plant to Jabar Construction using Alternate Bid #1 of $394,732.19, pending LCDBG approval. They also voted to go ahead and execute the LCDBG contract.

Grand Opening Held At Family Dollar Store

The Grand Opening of the Family Dollar Store in Junction City was held Thursday, May 17--one of 4,000 stores in 39 states. Junction City Mayor Preston Rogers cut the ribbon with help from grandson Joseph Lowe. On hand for the Grand Opening were Ray Hughes, Loss Prevention Director for the region; District Manager Frank Mullen; Claiborne Parish Sheriff Kenneth Volentine; and Union Parish Sheriff Bob Buckley. Becky Wilson will serve as store manager and Linda Murray as assistant manager. Entertainment was provided by the Junction City High School Band.
