Junction City (LA) Council To Hold Great American Cleanup 2001 In April

|
Mayor Preston Rogers met with councilmen Arnold Jones, Mike Griffith, and Ronnie Daniels in a short meeting on February 8. Also present was water superintendent Terry Smith and city clerk Carolyn Enis. Rogers reported that the Great American Cleanup 2001 will be conducted from March 15 to May 15, 2001. He asked the Council to participate. On motion by Jones and second by Daniels, the Council voted unanimously to participate with a clean up in Junction City, LA on April 21.

Junction High School To Hold Parent Teacher Conference Thursday -
Parents of Junction City School students, grades 7 through 12, are invited to a Parent-Teacher conference on Thursday, from 3 to 9 PM. Parents will also be able to pick up their student’s progress reports.

Junction City Baseball, Softball Teams Begin Play -
The Junction City High baseball team will play Gurdon here Thursday, February 22 at 4 PM. They will play Simsboro Tuesday, February 27 her at 4 PM.
The JC softball team will play Parkers Chapel there Thursday, at 3:30 PM. The will play Gurdon there on Monday, February 26 at 4 PM and play Parkers Chapel here Tuesday, February 27 at 3:30 PM.

March Events At Lake Claiborne Park -
March 3 - Jeb Johnson's Great Escapades, 7 PM. Visitors can learn more about the life of a local legend who lived in Claiborne Parish and fought in the Civil War. March 10 - Woodpecker Wonders, 7 PM. Visitors are invited to a program that discusses different types of woodpeckers, their niche in nature, their biology and their nesting habits.
March 24 - Storytelling, 7-8 PM, Visitors are invited to hear stories about Native Americans, animals and plants.

Claiborne Parish Science Fair Set For Friday, February 23 -
Claiborne Parish Schools will host the annual Claiborne Parish Science Fair on Friday, Februuary 23 at the Fiar Building in Haynesville. There will be approximately 200 entries from students in grades K-12 who will be judged throughout the day. An awards ceremoney will be held for the winners at 5 PM.
