Sewer Rates In Junction City, LA Raised To $16 Per Month 
Citizens in Junction City, Louisiana will see an increase on their February sewer bills. The town council, on recommendation by CPA William Edwards, voted at their January 11 meeting to adopt a resolution to raise sewer rates to $16 per month. The raise was due to the increase in the cost of operations.

 

Mayor Rogers Excited About New Family Dollar Store 
Junction City (LA) Mayor Preston Rogers is excited about the Family Dollar Store under construction at the intersection of Hwy. 167 and Hwy. 9. The 8,000 sq. ft. building is being constructed by RCS Land Co. LLC of Ft. Smith, AR, and will be leased to Family Dollar, a $4 billion plus corporation based in Charlotte, NC. According to developer Alf Barnes, the store will hold its grand opening sometime in May.

  • Sadie Hawkin's Valentine Dance Set For Feb. 16 - Girls can ask the boys to the Sadie Hawkin's Valentine Dance to be held Friday, February 16 from 8-12 PM in the old gym. Admission in advance is $4 single and $7 for couples. At the door, it will be $5 for single and $8 for couples. 
     
  • March Events At Lake Claiborne Park - March 3 - Jeb Johnson's Great Escapades, 7 PM. Visitors can learn more about the life of a local legend who lived in Claiborne Parish and fought in the Civil War.
       March 10 - Woodpecker Wonders, 7 PM. Visitors are invited to a program that discusses different types of woodpeckers, their niche in nature, their biology and their nesting habits.
       March 24 - Storytelling, 7-8 PM, Visitors are invited to hear stories about Native Americans, animals and plants.
