Junction City School Board Amends Schedule To Make Up Snow Days

The Junction City School Board voted Tuesday, January 9 to amend the school calendar to make up for snow days as recommended by Superintendent Alvin Kelly. Students will attend school on the Martin Luther King holiday and on President's Day. The board will add 30 minutes to each day of the week of February 12-16, and will add two days, May 29 and 30, to complete the year. |

Jeremy Carter Appointed To Junction City, Arkansas Council
Jeremy Carter, owner of Junction City Florist, was appointed at the January 18 meeting by Junction City, Arkansas Mayor Tommy Wilson, and Aldermen Ronnie Sehon, Allen Simmons, Gene Summers, James Warren, and Randy Washam to serve in Ward 3 Alderman seat formerly held by John William McCorvey. Carter will serve a two-year term which began January 1. |

- Junction City's Dual State Tournament Ends Saturday January 27
- Twenty girls' and twenty boys' teams will be competing this week for the championship in the 70th Annual Dual State Basketball Tournament which ends January 27.
- Cabins Available For Rent On Lake Claiborne January 3
- Ten new vacation cabins will be available for overnight guests at Lake Claiborne State Park beginning Wednesday, January 3. The Office of State Parks will begin taking reservations for the cabins Monday, Oct. 9 at 1-877-CAMP-N-LA central reservation line (or 1-877-226-7652).
- The YWCA of El Dorado invites you to become a part of their "Moms and Mentors Program"
- The program matches caring volunteer women with teen women who are pregnant for the first time, or who are parenting their first child. Through a mentoring relationship, the message is offered that there is someone available, not to judge, but to support and encourage.
