October Is Childnet/Child Search Awareness Month
Governor M. J. "Mike" Foster, Jr. has proclaimed the month of October as Childnet/Child Search Awareness Month. Whereas, early intervention is the first step in realizing Louisiana's educational goal that every child be ready for school, benefit from education, and become a productive citizen; and early intervention is beneficial in promoting the development of children with special needs while minimizing their potential for development delay; and early intervention is helpful in reducing the educational cost to our state by minimizing the need for special education and related services and the likelihood of institutionalization of individuals with disabilities, thereby minimizing the potential for independent living.
