|
Homer Mayor David Aubrey was notified by Major General Bennett C. Landreneau in a letter dated February 2, 2001, that a bronze plaque has been ordered and placed on the Stuart Tank at the Jackson Barracks Museum in New Orleans. The plaque states: “M-5 Light (Stuart) Tank “Enforcer” donated to the Jackson Barracks Military Museum by the citizens of the Town of Homer and American Legion Post 73 on July 5, 1990.”Landreneau said it was only recently brought to his attention by Lieutenant Colonel Gary Jones and Chief Warrant Officer Carl Thompson that they neglected an important promise to the city of Homer and to American Legion Post 73. Landreneau apologized for their oversight and assured that it in no part reflects the lack of appreciation for this wonderful addition to their museum.
