Junction City Basketball Underway, Dragons Win Three, Lose Two

The Junction City Dragons open up the 2000-2001 basketball season by winning three out of the first five games they have played. All of the games are conference contests, so it was very important to get off to a good start. |
School Board Receives Test Scores, Discusses Megan's Law

The Junction City School District #75 met at 7 PM on Tuesday, November 14 in regular session. Board members present Randy Lyons, Leon Hines, Kevin Hux, and John Sims discussed Megan's Law, a community notification law that allows law enforcement agencies to communicate with the public when a sexual offender is in their area. School Superintendent Alvin Kelly suggested reviewing the information first. The board voted to table it until the December meeting. |

- Junction City Dragons Play In Minden Tournament Dec. 13-16
- The Junction City Dragon basketball team Srs./Jrs. will play in the Minden Basketbal Tournament December 13-16.
- Gifted Students Present "The Nutcracker"
- Please help us celebrate the magic of Christmas by attending our performance of "The Nutcracker" presented by Junction City Gifted and Talented students and friends. Everyone is invited to attend. No admission will be charged. Performances are December 18 at 8:30 AM and 7 PM in the old gym.
- Santa Claus Will Be At First Bank On December 22
- Santa Clause will be at First Bank on Friday December 22, during their Open House from 2-6 PM to visit with the kids. Refreshments will be served.
- 1999-2000 Junction City Yearbooks Are On Sale
- Junction City 1999-2000 yearbooks are on sale in the high school office for $28.25 each.
- Claiborne One Site Now Features Area Image Archive
- Archived images from the recent Homer Christmas Festival and Parade
are now online. Upcoming image archives to include: Junction City High School Home-Coming Parade, Haynesville Butterfly Festival 2000, Homer Christmas Festival 1999, Claiborne Parish Scenery, Lake Claiborne State Park and more. To submit your images for inclusion in the Claiborne One Image Archive you may email them to webmaster@ClaiborneOne.org.

- Visit Santa At Fire Dept. Saturday, Dec. 16, 1-4 PM
- Kids can visit with Santa at the Junction City Fire Department on Main Street from 1-4 PM on Saturday, December 16. Firemen will have small gifts for the children and will demonstrate some of their fire equipment. Tickets for the 8-foot stocking are on sale for 50 cents each. The drawing for the stocking will be held sometime before 4 PM.

- Cabins Available For Rent On Lake Claiborne January 3
- Ten new vacation cabins will be available for overnight guests at Lake Claiborne State Park beginning Wednesday, January 3. The Office of State Parks will begin taking reservations for the cabins Monday, Oct. 9 at 1-877-CAMP-N-LA central reservation line (or 1-877-226-7652).
- The YWCA of El Dorado invites you to become a part of their "Moms and Mentors Program"
- The program matches caring volunteer women with teen women who are pregnant for the first time, or who are parenting their first child. Through a mentoring relationship, the message is offered that there is someone available, not to judge, but to support and encourage.
