Two Junction City Students Getting Real Education This Year

Two senior students at Junction City High School are getting a real education this year. They are not only taking regular courses like English, geometry, and home ec, but they are learning about the culture of teenagers in southern rural United States. Junction City Triad Elects Officers, Plans Christmas Party

Eighteen members and three visitors were present for the Triad meeting on Thursday, November 9 at the Town Hall in Junction City, LA. Billy Wayne Laney, chairman, welcomed guests who included Leon Hines, owner of Junction City Pharmacy, Violet Lann with the Bernice Community Rehab and Bernice Banner, Mrs. Seletie Davis, aunt of Triad member Sue Worthington. |
State Tournament Water Boy

I am a 7th grader at Junction City Junior High. Being as I am just a 7th grader I am just getting started into the football frenzie that takes place at the first of the year. Being a manager also known as a waterboy to most, makes me feel as if I am part of the team. |

- Junction City Dragons Play Strong There Friday
- The Junction City Dragon basketball team, Srs./Jrs. boys will play Strong there Friday, Dec. 8 at 5:30 PM. On December 11, the Srs./Jr. girls will play Norphlet there at 5:30 PM. The Minden Basketbal Tournament will be December 13-16.
- Santa Claus Will Be At First Bank On December 22
- Santa Clause will be at First Bank on Friday December 22, during their Open House from 2-6 PM to visit with the kids. Refreshments will be served.
- Junction City Band Concert Set For December 12
- The Junction City Band will hold their concert at 7 PM on Tuesday, December 12.
- Visit Santa At Fire Dept. Saturday, Dec. 16, 1-4 PM
- Kids can visit with Santa at the Junction City Fire Department on Main Street from 1-4 PM on Saturday, December 16. Firemen will have small gifts for the children and will demonstrate some of their fire equipment. Tickets for the 8-foot stocking are on sale for 50 cents each. The drawing for the stocking will be held sometime before 4 PM.
- Annual Christmas Festival In Homer Set For Saturday, December 9 -
The Full Day of Fun will include Art & Craft Vendors with Square Merchants Open Early, Specialty Food Vendors (Great Food for Every Taste), Singing and Dancing Groups Perform Throughout the Day. Homer's Biggest Ever Christmas Parade Starts at 4 pm with the Lighting of the Square at 5:30 pm. The Appearance of Santa Claus and live Choral Music round out the evening.

- Cabins Available For Rent On Lake Claiborne January 3
- Ten new vacation cabins will be available for overnight guests at Lake Claiborne State Park beginning Wednesday, January 3. The Office of State Parks will begin taking reservations for the cabins Monday, Oct. 9 at 1-877-CAMP-N-LA central reservation line (or 1-877-226-7652).
- The YWCA of El Dorado invites you to become a part of their "Moms and Mentors Program"
- The program matches caring volunteer women with teen women who are pregnant for the first time, or who are parenting their first child. Through a mentoring relationship, the message is offered that there is someone available, not to judge, but to support and encourage.
