Dragons Defeat Hornets 23-13

The Junction City Dragons put their selves in position for a high seed in the playoofs and a share of the 7-AA East conference title by defeating the Harmony Grove Hornets 23-13 last Friday Night at Dragon Stadium. The win gave the Dragons an 8-1 record for the year, while Harmony Grove fell to 7-2. |

Rick Gallot Speaks At Junction City (La) Council Meeting
Mayor Preston Rogers introduced new State Representative Rick Gallot at the meeting of the Junction City, Louisiana town council on Thursday, October 12. Gallo promised to work hard for Junction City just as his predecessor Rep. Pinkie Wilkerson had done in the past. |

- Junction City 1999-2000 yearbooks are on sale in the high school office for $28.25 each.
- Cooper Standard Bench Press 2000, November 4th
- The YWCA of El Dorado and Cooper Standard Automotive present the Cooper Standard Bench Press 2000 Competition to be held in the YWCA Fitness Center. Weigh-In 11:30 am - 1:30 pm, competition begins at 2 pm. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place. The competition is broken into several Weight Classes for both Men & Women. - Cabins Available For Rent On Lake Claiborne January 3
- Ten new vacation cabins will be available for overnight guests at Lake Claiborne State Park beginning Wednesday, January 3. The Office of State Parks will begin taking reservations for the cabins Monday, Oct. 9 at 1-877-CAMP-N-LA central reservation line (or 1-877-226-7652).

- 4th Annual Athens Country Festival Set For November 4
-
Athens will host their 4th Annual Country Festival on Saturday, November 4, with lots of arts, crafts, and collectibles--old and new. Food booths will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs, snow cones, bar-b-que, cotton candy,

- Homer, Louisiana - A Sesquicentennial Celebration - The
Town of Homer was incorporated in March 1850 and on Saturday, November 11, 2000 will be celebrate its 150th Birthday. The Sesquicentennial Celebration will include a number of activities, but most importantly it will giveresidents and visitors an opportunity to step into the past. People will gather around the beautiful antebellum Courthouse in their 1850 attire, stroll the town square, and enjoy the food and the music of the North Louisiana Piney Hills.
- Annual Christmas Festival In Homer Set For Saturday, December 9 - Chairman Buddy Pixley met August 23 with the several interested persons to begin making plans for this year's Christmas Festival planned for Saturday, December 9. The Committee discussed plans for the parade, entertainment, food booths, and possibly a Christmas Decoration contest. As done in the past, members discussed allowing various groups--marching bands, cheerleaders, dance lines, twirling groups, etc--to compete for trophies prior to the parade. The Festival will also include all-day entertainment and a variety of food booths.
