- Council Approves 99-Year Lease On 5.98 Acres In Mayfield Park
By Susan T. Herring,  Editor, The Guardian-Journal

The Homer Town Council Voted To Spend $50,000 (Of The $70,000 Received From The Sell Of Land For The New Detention Center) For The Twenty Percent Matching Funds On The Mayfield Pedestrian Trail Project. Matching Funds Were Supposed To Be Paid Through In-Kind Labor, But Was Somehow Left Out Of The Contract.
Councilman Scott "Doc" Roberson said at the October 2 meeting of the Homer Town Council, "Do away with this term limit." His motion to amend the present town ordinance to read as follows--the term of office of mayor and selectman would have no term limits and would be eligible for election for more than two consecutive terms of office--was promptly seconded by Joe Merritt.
