Former Denver Bronco Tells Teens To "Walk In Godly Wisdom"
By Susan T. Herring,
Editor, The Guardian-Journal
Steve Fitzhugh looks like a "fortunate son," rising to stardom as a NFL player for the Denver Broncos. To hear him, it is easy to see why he is considered one of the nation's most effective youth communicators. His antics, his enthusiasm, and his rap music--songs like "Nasty" and "Love Jones"--gets the attention of today's teens. He challenges them to get their acts together, to stay away from drugs, and to refrain from sex outside marriage. He tells them to give their lives to Jesus Christ--which is exactly what he did when he was their age. |

Burn Ban Remains In Effect For North Louisiana Parishes
The Burn Ban issued by Governor Mike Foster has not been lifted. Foster issued a state of emergency earlier this month, ordering burn bans in 39 Louisiana parishes. Although the ban has been lifted in a number of southern parishes, the burn ban remains in effect for Claiborne, Union, Bienville, Webster, Lincoln, Caddo, Bossier, Jackson, DeSoto, Ouachita, and Winn. Louis Heaton, Chief of Forest Protection with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, said there has been some rain in these parishes, but it has been spotty. Either a burn ban is in effect for the entire parish or it is not. In order to lift the burn ban, the entire parish must be included. Heaton said review the situation in each parish on a daily basis and would not leave the ban in effect any longer than necessary. |
