No Such Thing As "Safe Sex," STD Epidemic At 68 Million And Climbing
By Susan T. Herring,
Editor, The Guardian-Journal
Baby boomers and their parents remember the time when no one dared say the "s" word. This was back in the days when married folks on television slept in twin beds and never took their clothes off on the big screen. Not so anymore. The sexual revolution of the 60s and 70s saw to that. Today we are paying the consequences. In 1970, there were two major sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). They were primarily bacterial, and curable. Today there are twenty-five and many are viral and incurable. Some are deadly. |
