- Voters In Pineview School District Approve Tax Renewal

Less than twenty-five percent of the 9,663 registered voters in Claiborne Parish turned out to cast their ballots for the two District Judge seats. In Division B, only 2,212 voters cast ballots, while in Division C, 2,341 votes were cast. Only 467 registered Republicans and 1,340 registered Democrats cast ballots in the Presidential primaries. |

Chairman Pete Pearson Said The Clean City Committee And The Town Of Homer Will Hold A "Trash Bash" Friday, March 31 From 1 - 6 PM and Saturday, April 1 from 8 AM - 3 PM. Citizens Should Take This Opportunity To Clean Up Around The House And Dispose Of Those Old Appliances.
David Greene, Operations Manager with BFI of North America (formerly Waste Management), said it is unnecessary for Claiborne Parish residents to dump trash alongside parish roads. BFI will pick up ninety-five percent of the items being dumped--old sofas, chairs, tables, mattresses, televisions, yard waste, limbs, etc. If residents have questions about disposing of an item they should call Greene at (800) 624-7488. |
Tourism Committee Plans For Homer's Sesquicentennial Celebration

Homer's Tourism Committee discussed plans for Homer's Sesquicentennial Celebration and tentatively set a date for mid-November to be held in conjunction with the Christmas Open House and "Taste of Homer." A number of ideas were discussed including music, entertainment by local artists, a short play, dressing in the 1850 period, and burying a time capsule in front of City Hall. |

Motorcycle Accident Fatal To Homer Man
At approximately 1:18 PM Saturday, March 18, Homer Police officers were dispatched to the scene of a motorcycle accident in the Meadow Drive Subdivision. |

- The Pelican Quarterback Club will hold its Annual Bass Tournament Saturday March 25 from 6 AM - 3 PM on Lake Claiborne. - Homer Fire Department Selling Portraits For Fundraiser
- Fire Chief Dennis Butcher said the Homer Fire Department is conducting their annual fundraiser. A representative will be contacting residents about purchasing a portrait beginning March 23. - Relay For Life Remembers And Honors Cancer Patients
- At 9 PM Friday, April 7 a special candle lighting ceremony will be held to remember persons who have been affected by cancer during the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life to be held at the Homer High School Track from 6 PM - 6 AM. Luminaries purchased for $10 to honor or memorialize a cancer patient will be lighted and placed around the perimeter of the track.
