The End Of A Millennium, The End Of An Era BY SUSAN T. HERRING Editor, The Guardian-Journal On The Eve Of A New Millennium We Find Ourselves Looking Anxiously Ahead To What The Future Holds. At The Same Time We Look Back And Reflect On Our History Here In Claiborne Parish. As Claiborne Parish readies itself for the year 2000, we are keenly aware of the presence of the computer age and the world wide web of the internet. Local residents are busying themselves with the normal, hurried Christmas shopping, yet there seems to be an uneasiness in the air with talk of Y2K. SOme even fear we are nearing the end of the age when Jesus Christ shall return for his church. He was born in an obscure village, The child of a peasant woman. He grew up in still another village where He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. All I Want For Christmas... BY SUSAN T. HERRING Editor, The Guardian-Journal
Some of the favorite requests on Santa's lists this year may have been on Santa's lists written almost one hundred years ago by great-grandparents, like bikes, puppies, dolls and snow. It is obvious other items on 1999 lists would have been unheard of at the turn of the last century--items such as Pokeman, Nintendos, 4-wheelers, Playstations, and computers. Haynesville, Homer Police Investigating Separate Incidents The Homer and Haynesville Police Departments are currently working to solve two crimes in the past week. On Dec. 14 in Haynesville, officers responded to a shooting at Williams Washateria in Haynesville. On Dec. 20, two black males robbed Bill's Dollar Store in Homer.
